Indonesia Affirms Support for the Palestinians Through Tourism

The embassy participated in tourism exhibition Holiday World 2016 held in Prague, 18 to 21 February 2016. The Holiday World is the largest tourism exhibition in the Central European region. The organization of the event in 2016 was marked as the ‘silver jubilee’ or  the 25th anniversary.

The exhibition was officially opened by the Minister of Regional Development of the Czech Republic, Karla Šlechtová. Minister Šlechtová emphasized it is an opening of non-traditional tourism market still offering safe destinations for Czech citizens. As for the flow of incoming tourists, it encourages the development of tourism in other regions in the Czech Republic outside the capital city of Prague.

After opening the exhibition, Minister Slechtova stopover at Indonesian stand and was warmly welcomed by the Ambassador for the Republic of Indonesia, Aulia Aman Rachman. Minister Šlechtová, who was accompanied by the Palestinian tourism minister, Rula Ma’ay’ahas, discussed and exchanged ideas with Ambassador Aulia in a friendly atmosphere.

Minister Slechtova expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador Aulia Rachman for the continuity of the Embassy in Prague in representing Indonesia by its participation on Holiday World. She also presented appreciation for the Indonesian stand concept as it was simple yet presenting many tourist and cultural destination of Indonesia. Minister Šlechtová also reiterated her desire to visit Indonesia to further strengthen cooperation in tourism between the two countries.

In response, Ambassador Aulia expressed readiness to realize the possible visit. Ambassador Aulia also agreed that the visit would further boost tourism cooperation between the two countries, and will ultimately increase the exchange of visits between citizens.

Meanwhile, responding to the presence of the Palestinian tourism minister, Rula Ma’ay’ahas, ambassador Aulia reiterated Indonesia’s support to the Palestinians. In that regard, Ambassador Aulia welcomed the participation of the Palestinian representative at Holiday World and expressed readiness to boost cooperation with the Palestinian representative in Prague in various fields.

It is the 7th participation of the Embassy in Prague in 2016 at an exhibition held in an area of ​​approximately 18 km2. Holiday World 2016 was joined by no less than 650 participants from 48 countries.

In in this year´s event, the Indonesian Embassy in Prague arranged a simple and open concept which symbolizes openness and hospitality of Indonesia. The Embassy in Prague utilizes participation as a promotional vehicle consisting of tourism promotion, superior products, arts and culture and culinary of Indonesia.

Embassy in Prague also involves a number of Czech partners to participate in Holiday World, 2016.

To represent excellent furniture, Embassy in Prague invited Firma Kopa, to display furniture imported from Indonesia.

For the tourism, the Indonesian Embassy in Prague invited a number of travel agents from the Czech Republic, namely Aquatravel, Sea Lady, and Relax Bali that offer travel packages to Indonesia.

For the promotion of coffee as one of the flagship products of Indonesia, the Indonesian Embassy in Prague invited one of the famous barista school in Prague, Skola Kavy to operate the Indonesian coffee corner at Holiday World, serving coffee paired with a variety of culinary treats typical of Indonesia.

For the promotion of art and culture, the Indonesian Embassy in Prague also involved one of the former Czech awardees of Dharmasiswa program to present a demonstration of batik making. As for cultural performances, a Czech studio Kintari which pursues to show the original culture of Indonesia was involved as well.

Ambassador Aulia affirmed that in 2016, the Embassy in Prague will implement integrated promotion strategies, in terms of promoting the variety of Indonesian potential. Participation in travel fairs will be used for the promotion of investment and trade. Conversely, participation in trade and investment fairs will be used for tourism promotion.

This integrated exhibition is one of the manifestations of promotion to increase trade, tourism and investment (TTI), which has become one of the priorities of the Government of Indonesia today.

Confirmed by Ambassador Aulia , the culmination of the Embassy´s TTI promotion strategy in 2016, is that Indonesia was chosen as the Guest Country of Honor at Holiday World 2017. To achieve these goals Ambassador Aulia requests prayers and support from all stakeholders.
